Why travel with African Bush Camps?

For a wildly luxurious experience in the heart of Africa's wildest spaces, a stay with African Bush Camps is a must. Founded by a professional safari guide Beks Ndlovu, everything they do is geared toward giving you the most immersive and soul-stirring safari experience. As we like to say, in Africa, it's not about what you know but who you know, and you certainly want to know African Bush Camps and their expert guides when you're out there exploring some of Africa's most remote destinations.

Beks Ndlovu founded the camp because he felt there was a gap in the market when it came to flexible safaris. Instead of the rigid cookie-cutter safari schedules you see so often, he wanted guests to explore the wonders of Africa in different ways. The first camp, Somalisa Camp, was where he started to encourage guides to get creative and offer something unique every time they head out on safari. Today, African Bush Camps has 16 camps in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia, with a vision to grow even more.

With Signature camps, Expeditions Camps and Family Camps, there's something for everyone, from the couples seeking remote romance to family-friendly excursions, exhilarating activities for the truly adventurous, and even the solo wanderer looking for solitude and introspection in Africa's most remote landscapes.

Every camp is designed around the safari experience as their guides are highly experienced and offer unique tales and insight into the wildlife and their antics. It's these smiling faces showing you their world and its wonders that really make a stay at African Bush Camps so special.

Sustainability is also a given, focusing on leaving a light footprint and conserving the experience for generations to come. If you want to truly delve deep into the wild and reconnect with yourself and Mother Nature, a stay at one of African Bush Camp's lodges should be on your African itinerary.

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is elevated on the hillside overlooking Lake Kariba. The luxury of height affords Bumi Hills with uninhibited views from every living space to every one of their 10 bedrooms. The lush bush below the lodge is home to lion, leopard, buffalo and wandering herds of elephant.

The lodge is located in an extensive wildlife conservation area in Zimbabwe, touching the northeastern border of Matusadona National Park. Bumi Hills airstrip is just 5 minutes away from the lodge; otherwise, boat transfers and self-driving is also possible. The dramatic stretch of Lake Kariba reaches remote hills in the distance and provides exquisite sunset opportunities. Game drives and tranquil boat cruises are also available for guests.

There are 10 en-suite rooms all with balcony views overlooking Lake Kariba. The style is a mix of authentic African themes with contemporary western influences. By far the most desirable facility has to be the infinity pool that blends evenly into the lake. Surrounding the pool are comfortable wine and dine terraces overlooking Kariba’s excellence.
