Named after the Pied Kingfisher that makes its home amid the watery channels of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera Safari Lodge (pronounced ‘kee-jera’) tells a story of rebirth, family legacy, and the remarkable reimagining of an Okavango Delta safari. Blending six decades of devotion to luxury service with exceptional wilderness experiences, art, design and craftsmanship, Xigera provides a truly unique African adventure.
When not savouring Xigera’s sumptuous spa treatments, yoga sessions, state-of-the-art gym facilities and serene swimming pool, guests have an array of activities to choose from. Along with game drives, mokoro trips, nature walks, bush dining, star-gazing and story-tellling – expect something a little more extraordinary here. Take to the skies on a helicopter safari, spend a magical night in The Baobab Treehouse, or join an insightful Art & Design Tour through the lodge’s main bar, boma, library and dining areas.
As a whole, Xigera is a living gallery of African art and design, an entirely unique celebration of the continent’s creativity that honours indigenous traditions while seeking out bold new interpretations. This theme carries through to the lodge’s 12 individually decorated suites. Beautifully designed using a jewel-like layering of materials and texture including timber, bronze and hand-carved wood, each Suite sits on raised stilts – allowing both wildlife and the life-giving waters of the Okavango to pass beneath. Bold in vision and ground breaking in its scope, Xigera is truly a first of its kind on the continent.
