Slowly but surely, the landscape of the 54,000ha Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is returning to its natural state, unhindered and unmarked by human presence. Over 8,000ha of it has already been declared a wilderness area. Tilney Manor affords guests the opportunity to enjoy this fascinating part of the Breede River Valley in seclusion and luxury, only three hours from Cape Town and a short deviation from Route 62.
Sanbona’s three distinct biomes – Karoo, fynbos and thicket – showcase the incredible biodiversity of the reserve, and its plethora of predators are testament to the sustainability of their environment. Its contrasting landscape, punctuated by mountains and hills, also hides ancient San rock art estimated to be over 3500 years old, while the critically endangered riverine rabbit has also been spotted in the reserve.
Tilney Manor’s six Luxury Suites are spread across each with a shower and a free-standing bath. A private verandah captures magnificent views of the mountains. Activities at the Manor range from game drives and nature walks to stargazing and spa treatments. Relish on-site dining prepared by the expert culinary team.
