Sea-spray waters the rock face which ends at the walkway and lawns leading up to The Marine Hotel, overlooking Hermanus’ Walker Bay. Just beneath the surface of rolling ocean waters, large densities of great white sharks share the area with southern right whales. Unsurprisingly, Walker Bay is one of the top places in the world to whale watch and shark cage dive.
Hermanus has grown from a small fishing village to a popular tourist destination. The multitude of valleys in the area and its temperate climate have created perfect conditions for wine production. Visitors will find an array of wine farms scattered across the area. Hermanus is also part of the Cape Floristic Region, overflowing with diverse and endemic plant life – the most famous of all of these being fynbos.
With plenty to see and do in this charming town, the historic Marine Hotel offers guests five-star accommodation in their 40 elegantly decorated rooms and suites. Owner-run hospitality, accompanied by world-class service and magnificent views of Walker Bay make The Marine an ideal host year-round.
