The aptly named Tambuti Lodge is surrounded by a predominantly single-species forest typical of the growing patterns of the tambuti tree. Its location in the 1,800ha Black Rhino Reserve, a private concession which has been incorporated into the Pilanesberg National Park on its north-west border, offers more seclusion than in the main part of the reserve while still giving you access to the full wildlife experience.
The Pilanesberg is one of the most accessible Big 5 safaris to be had. Within its 55,000 hectares, the Kalahari transitions into the wetter Lowveld and virtually all of the wildlife species native to South Africa and some 300 different birds make their home. All this is laid out around the unrivalled centrepiece – the 1,200-million-year-old volcano crater dramatically cradling Mankwe Lake. Venture out on game drives and absorb the splendour of the unpolluted night skies with stargazing sessions.
Tambuti Lodge’s luxury suites are elegantly designed and include outdoor showers and outside kitchenettes. Each suite also offers a private deck from which to view captivating birdlife. Relish fine dining either in the boma or indoors in the opulent dining room.
