Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park’s name translates to "the smoke that thunders" and evokes a decided sense of awe. This wildlife sanctuary is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprised of the winding Zambezi, mighty Victoria Falls and the plethora of wildlife found here – it's also home to the exclusive Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma Lodge which rests on the banks of the river.
The Zambezi feeds a variety of flora from towering phoenix palms to dense jackalberry trees. Venture out on game drives where you'll spot giraffe, zebra, elephant, hippo and even crocodile. Nearby Victoria Falls offers you several ways of absorbing its beauty from helicopter flights and bungee jumps to river cruises and white-water rafting.
Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma gives visitors a front-row seat to all the action on the Zambezi, a mere 12km upstream from Victoria Falls. Named after the much-loved companions of David Livingstone, this lodge houses guests in its Sussi Treehouses (with air-conditioning and private viewing decks over the river) and its Chuma Houses (each with two en-suite bedrooms, a private dining area, plunge pool, deck, chef and staff).
