Samara Private Game Reserve is a 70,000-acre reserve in the heart of the Great Karoo, near Graaff-Reinet, the fourth oldest town in South Africa. It is a place of history and magic and the endless blue skies and dusty plains of the semi-desert Karoo will captivate you. The main lodge, Karoo Lodge, opened in 2005 and welcomes guests with its wide veranda providing panoramic vistas of the surrounds. There is a comfortable living room complete with roaring fireplace as well as a bar and elegant dining room. You can also wine and dine at the open boma, soak up the sun beside the swimming pool and there is a tennis court for the sports lovers. There are three Lodge Suites in the main building and three Karoo Suites, which are more private and exclusive, scattered around the lush gardens. All suites have private en-suite bathrooms, Internet connections and there is satellite TV, Internet and fax facilities in the main lodge to boot.
The Manor at Samara is the newest addition to the portfolio, offering the discerning traveller the utmost in luxury and privacy. The house hosts a maximum of 8 guests, ensuring you and your loved ones can have the whole place to yourselves! There are four spacious, airconditioned en-suite bedrooms, each with free-standing baths and wonderful views over the Great Karoo. There is a sparkling infinity pool and you can view game at the natural waterhole in front of the house. And if you don't feel pampered enough, a personal ranger, chef and butler will cater for your every need!
