On its 111,288ha private African wilderness, Mbirikani Group Ranch houses the Ol Donyo Lodge, a thatch-roofed bastion standing proud among a sea of green shrubbery. This land is owned by and leased from the community, with the conservancy fees paid by guests going directly to those responsible for preserving this land and its inhabitants.
The area is rich in wildlife, something which will become apparent from the very beginning of your first game drive. Elephant, leopard, lion, cheetah, giraffe – these and many more species can often be spotted. Guided bush walks, horseriding and mountain biking are also available for those looking to get a little closer with the landscape.
Accommodation consists of unique Cottages, most featuring private pools. Each of these cottages has access to a roof terrace where star beds can be set up, affording guests intimate and romantic stargazing. The lodge itself features a spacious lounge and dining area, and offers a breathtaking view of the Kilimanjaro, imposing as ever even at this distance.
