Little Governors' Camp has won many international awards since its creation in 1976. And the awards keep rolling in as this little safari lodge in Kenya's Maasai Mara Reserve, continues to enthral its fortunate guests. Surrounded by forests and open plains, the camp overlooks a busy waterhole and each of the 17 tented suites has a private verandah from which to watch the passing parade of African wildlife.
Little Governors' Camp accommodation comprises massive walk-in safari tents, each with a luxurious en-suite bathroom spread out under the forest canopy. The living area is an open-sided tent, stuffed with comfy sofas, that looks out over the marshy watering hole and the Masai Mara plains towards the escarpment in the distance. Dining is an exquisite combination of haute cuisine with a dramatic setting beneath the African night sky.
The luxury of Little Governors' Camp is complimented by the spectacular wildlife experience. The waterhole on your doorstep is a constant source of wonder as giraffe, antelope, elephant and a host of other animals trickle past oblivious to your presence. Game drives – morning, afternoon and evening – take you through classic East Africa scenery in search of lion, leopard, and cheetah; and then there's the migration, which passes through the Masai Mara Reserve from the Serengeti between July and October.
