Located in an old acacia forest on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp is situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The camp provides quick and easy access to the crater floor, an area renowned for a high concentration of game and amazing Big 5 sightings.
The crater floor is only a 10/15-minute drive away from the gate, meaning that Lemala guests usually arrive about an hour before other visitors in the morning. This is especially useful for photographers, who need the golden morning light. Enjoy plenty of game drives in the crater as well as guided walks in the acacia forest or along the crater’s rim. Along with the Big 5, look out for hyena, zebra, wildebeest, cheetah, jackal, bat-eared foxes, Grant's and Thompson's gazelle, and plenty of birds.
Nine en-suite tents are on offer, each equipped with two queen-size beds, winter duvets, hot water bottles, and gas heaters. The mess tent has a lounge, dining area, and bar, complete with large comfortable sofas and bookshelves. Dusk summons chats around the campfire followed by a hearty dinner.
