Fish River Lodge

Fish River Lodge is perched on the very edge of the Fish River Canyon, showcasing unrivalled views of the dramatic canyon and its fascinating rock formations. The lodge reflects the rugged beauty of its surroundings, from the chalets’ dry-packed stone walls to the large windows flooding the contemporary interior with light.

The lodge is set in the 45,000ha Canyon Nature Park and offers exclusive hiking and 4x4 experiences. Venture down into the great abyss where the Fish River meanders through the privately-owned park. See rough limestone, fine shales and shiny quartzite as you descend into the heart of the ravine. Dive into cool waters, embark on a challenging climb or enjoy a sundowner as the canyon’s colour changes with the fading light.

Harmonious and often monastic, the 20 Chalets are set on the rim of the canyon and blend with their stark surroundings. Each comes complete with large bathrooms, an outdoor shower, and an outdoor platform for sleeping under the stars. Lunch is served on the main lodge’s deck, while breakfast and candlelit dinners are had in the dining area.
