Far away from the bright lights of the big city, Doro Nawas Camp in the dry Aba-Huab River Valley treats guests to one of the clearest and most astounding views of the night sky. Here you’re in for a star-gazing experience of a different kind: each of the 16 Rooms comes with a verandah made for special sleepouts under stars.
During the day, however, your verandah is a window to another view altogether: dramatic mountains and canyons of Damaraland, dry riverbeds, stark savannah plains and the red sandstone cliffs of nearby Twyfelfontein. The latter is a World Heritage Site boasting ancient San rock art, and trips to this geological wonder can be arranged. Guests can also go on a scenic drive or guided walk and stand the chance to see springbok, gemsbok, or even elephant.
The rooms are made from a mix of stone and canvas, allowing them to blend in with the stark landscape. Each room comes with an en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower. You can mingle with your fellow travellers in the main area which includes a dining area, a pool, bar and a curio shop.
