Desert Camp

Desert Camp features self-catering at its best. Discover the stark beauty of the Namib Desert here in Sossusvlei, with 360º views over giant sand dunes and the surrounding mountains. In the company of centuries-old camelthorn trees in the Namib Naukluft Park, the camp is located just 5km from the gate to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon.  

This area is snake, scorpion and reptile haven – be on the lookout and avoid contact with these creatures as you amble along the hiking trails. At sunrise, when the dune contrasts are at their best, take a guided trip in a game-viewing vehicle and learn about the area’s fauna and flora. Climb the world’s most photographed dune, and quad bike around the private reserve. Scenic flights in a Cessna 210 or hot air balloon across the desert create unforgettable memories.

Accommodation comprises 28 eco-friendly self-catering units rest under the sweeping sky in canvas with adobe-style walls. All units are en-suite, with twin beds, a fold-out sleeper couch, shaded verandah with fitted kitchenette and barbeque. Cool down in the swimming pool after your desert excursions, or grab a drink from the bar.
