Set on the banks of the Kwando River, the lifeline of the Caprivi region, Camp Kwando tempts travellers into exploring this patch of untamed land. Succulent riverbanks are brimming with birdlife while surrounding islands are dotted with tents and Caprivi’s wandering wildlife. The camp offers accommodation to suit a range of travellers, from isolated Luxury Chalets to shaded Camping Spots.
Take advantage of the Kwando river, and set off on a boat trip to see its array of birdlife, enjoy a laid-back mokoro paddle down narrow channels, or try your hand at catching the elusive tiger fish. Game drives to the neighbouring reserves showcase big game, while the traditional cultural village tour teaches guests about ancient hunting and fishing techniques and traditional everyday rituals.
The 13 thatched roof Island Tents are suspended on poles in the river, and each come complete with an open-air en suite bathroom. The six Luxury Chalets, made from wood and canvas, are built on stilts surrounded by trees and provide seclusion as well as incredible views of Botswana’s plains. The grassy camping site provides 10 camping spots beneath shady trees and communal facilities.
