Okonjima Plains Camp

Okonjima Plains Camp is set amid faded gold plains and rolling hills, halfway between Windhoek, Namibia’s capital, and Etosha National Park, one of the country’s most prolific wildlife destinations. The family-run camp was renovated in 1993 from a cattle farm to a conservation project, and today it rescues, relocates, and rehabilitates Africa’s big cats. 

Experience leopard and cheetah like never before – track these spotted felines on foot on Guided Walking Trails or in a game-and-nature-viewing vehicle, and watch them stalk their prey and interact with each other in their natural environment. Visit the hide at dusk to see a porcupine, caracal, and honey-badgers roam about after dark. Self-guided walking trails offer solitude, while the bushman trail sheds light on the local San’s survival methods.

The camp consists of a selection of sophisticated rooms which overlook the Okonjima grass plains. All rooms come equipped with twin basins and a large shower, two double beds, and a private verandah. Light hues of blue and green drape the rooms, enhanced by light spilling in from large windows. The dining room spreads over two levels and offers guests dramatic views of the undulating landscape while savouring traditional cuisine.
