Pilanesberg Game Reserve is spread across a crater formed by an extinct volcano last active aeons ago. This 57,200ha sanctuary showcases an impressive number of large animals, well exceeding 10,000 in numbers, including the Big 5. Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge reclines on one of the many slopes in Pilanesberg and offers the quintessential safari experience a mere 2 hours from Johannesburg.
Kwa Maritane is brimming with excitement for the whole family. Game drives, guided bushwalks, and bird-watching are the order of the day, while children can take part in a junior rangers programme and spend evenings stargazing. The lodge boasts a pool, bush putt putt course, an outdoor chess table, a playground, tennis courts and rock climbing facilities.
Of Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge’s 90 rooms, 54 are furnished with twin beds and the remaining 36 with double beds. Kwa Maritane’s restaurant overlooks a water hole frequented by the park’s numerous inhabitants. Sun City Resort, home to the Palace of the Lost City and attractions such as the Valley of Waves, is adjacent to the reserve.
