Nestled in the Franschhoek Winelands and forming part of the magnificent Cape Floral Kingdom, Boschendal Estate & its cottages offer the type of escape that pure romance and novels are made of. While here, guests can spend their days hiking or fly-fishing, enjoying wine tastings or picnics, and embarking on horse and carriage rides and rose garden strolls.
Just a few centuries ago, the Drakenstein Valley was inhabited by Khoisan and today visitors to the area can walk in their ghostly footsteps on the numerous hiking and walking trails found all around. Days of leisure are well spent here, too, thanks to the roaming winelands, stunning nature reserves, and quaint towns found all across the area. Unsurprisingly, Boschendal is steeped in history with its original farmstead having been declared a national monument.
Several charming homes are available on the estate from Clarence and Rhodes Cottage (the latter being a national heritage site) to the Orchard, Werf and Trout Cottages. The cottages come in variations that will suit a variety of guests from families and friends to couples and colleagues while giving everyone access to Boschendal’s estate and activities.
